Case Study - Literature Review - Tesla and Artificial Intelligence

Many different studies have been conducted in regards to the Tesla company and its very influential CEO Elon Musk and numerous of literature review have covered this company, and it is generally concluded in these studies that Tesla company is a successful company with a huge impact in the present time and it has brought innovative products that changed our world and that it has great potential for our future and that they are the best in the electric vehicle field, however there are a few sources which show skepticism towards the company, in this section of the case study we will go over different sources that discuss Tesla and evaluate them. According to SupplyChainDive (2018) it was not tesla that invented the electric vehicles it was Robert Anderson in 1832, all that tesla did was popularize and promote this type of vehicle and not one single major company was making electric cars until the the announcement of tesla roadster in 2008

and since then Tesla radically and rapidly changed the automotive industry because since the 2008 event of Tesla, most major production car companies started rapidly making electric cars of their own, the automotive industry is not unsusceptible to innovation and change, but does tend to do it slowly, however since the launch of Tesla roadster this was changed. A senior lecturer in innovation at MIT Sloan Sull has a positive opinion towards Tesla (2021, cited in MitSloan, 2021) in which he states the  following: "Prior to Tesla, no domestic manufacturer had entered the U.S. automotive market at scale since the Second World War", furthermore he states that Tesla's out innovating its competitors can trump the challenging fundamentals of the auto industry. Tesla has recently seen a large scale of skepticism due to its failure to deliver its promise to "fully self driving cars" that it promised to come true in 2019 (AnalyticsSteps, 2020). Automobile companies shift their focus from producing traditional vehicle to electric vehicle, which encourages the development of EV in automobile market (Abhay, 2020). There are many advantages associated with electrical vehicle over the traditional vehicle in automobile industry. For example, electrical vehicle can be powered naturally by electricity, which is a renewable resource contrary to oil used on traditional vehicles (Liu, 2021). When traveling, electrical vehicles have regenerative braking to supplement the energy for car to run, making it cost much less than gas, on average, electrical vehicle typically costs one third less than normal ones (CarandDriver, 2020). Ankita (2021) declares in her book that Tesla is the highest rated car manufacturing company for self-driving cars today. The high performance of the self-driving cars or also called as autonomous Tesla cars has proven to be good and high on standards by the customer’s feedback. After looking at different literature reviews, it can be concluded that Tesla is a huge company with great influence and potential and people are in support of it.

Neural Network (Initial Idea 2)

Neural Networks   Neural Networks, colloquially known as artificial neural networks (ANNs) and also simulated neural networks (SNNs), are a sub-fiend of machine learning which in it self is a sub-field of Artificial Intelligence, they are the brain of AI and are components of deep learning. The name and structure of NNs are similar to the human brain and were inspired by it, they imitate the biological neurons by signaling to each other (IBM, 2020). ANNs consist of an input layer of neurons, one or two hidden layers of neurons and a final layer of output neurons (Wang, 2003).   The diagram illustrated exemplifies a simple architecture of a neural network, the lines which connect the neurons are called weights and are associated with a number which represent the strength of connection between neurons.   There are many different types of neural networks and each are used for specific motives. Below are some of the most common ones used in the field: The perceptron “the oldest neur
